India poised to play big role in AI revolution: Microsoft

sees India poised to play a significant role in the Artificial Intelligence revolution that is gripping the world, the tech giant’s India president Anant Maheshwari said Wednesday. He was addressing media and analysts at the Microsoft R&D Centre in Bangalore.

India is already third in the list of countries with AI skill sets. “India is at a unique position to play a great role in this revolution,” Maheshwari said, explaining how the world is at a convergence point in relation to tools, data and the cloud, the key ingredients for AI technologies.

Microsoft AI, the company claimed, is fuelling “digital transformation” in over 700 Indian companies — 60 per cent of which was large manufacturing and financial services enterprises.

Microsoft believes that India will have a great role in the Artificial Intelligence revolution and Anant Maheshwari, Microsoft India president pointed out that India is already third in the list of countries with AI skill sets.
india said the next wave of innovation for India is being driven by the tech intensity of companies. This essentially means how they combine rapid adoption of cutting edge tech with the company’s own distinctive tech and business capabilities.

“As of now, only 8 per cent of GDP is affected by digital technologies. But this number will be be 60 per cent in 2021,” he said, adding how being such a big population India is generating data at a huge scale.


“We can believe AI will enable Indian businesses and more for India’s progress, especially in education, skilling, healthcare and agriculture. Microsoft also believes that it is imperative to build higher awareness and capabilities on security, privacy, trust and accountability. The power of AI is just beginning to be realized and can be a game-changer for India,” he added.

The next major Windows 10 update (codenamed 19H1) is scheduled for spring 2019. Members of the Windows Insider program can already download and test the first beta versions. Here's a look at some of the updates and improvements in store. After the April update was delayed and the October update got pulled, then restarted a month later, after users reported files being deleted from devices on which it was installed, Microsoft has no room for error in 2019.

At this point, the first "build" editions made available to members of the Windows Insider program reveal only relatively minor modifications to the OS. The Start menu, for example, gets a few changes, including the ability to unpin entire live tile groups. Users will also be able to adjust the size of the cursor and Microsoft promises simplified note-taking via a stylus, as well as custom notifications.

Search is also evolving, with a new landing page for recent activities. The search bar and the Cortana assistant will also now be separate. Plus, in the future, Cortana should be able to recognize different users. The update brings various improvements to Notepad and a new, clearer layout for Windows Update. Plus, users will be able to uninstall more apps, such as Calculator, Mail, Paint 3D and Voice Recorder.

In addition, these first beta editions correct various bugs, introduce a new light theme and bring new emojis (version 12).

Twitter’s PWA for Windows 10 gets image tagging and other improvements

On October 22, the social media giant Twitter updated their Progressive Web App (PWA) for all supported platforms including Windows 10. The latest update comes with several improvements and fixes aimed at enhancing the user experience.

The latest update comes with a host of performance improvements, events fixes and more. According to the changelog, you can now tag up to 10 accounts in an attached image on Twitter for Windows 10 and web.

Another noticeable change is that Twitter has moved the analytics icon to the same line that was also used by other Tweet actions so you can access the analytics page easily. You can find the official changelog below:

1. We added the ability to tag up to 10 people in a Tweet with photos.
2. Made a lot of performance improvements. More detail from one of our engineers in this Tweet!
3. On the widescreen experience we moved the analytics icon in the same line as the rest of Tweet actions to give you easier access to the feature.
4. We’ve added a whole set of improvements to the experience while viewing events on the Twitter website.
5. On desktop web, you’ll now be able to see the number of notifications you have on the browser tab.
6. You can now view your most recent searches from the search box.

Twitter for Windows 10 is a PWA that means the update would arrive automatically and there is no need to manually check for updates via the Microsoft Store. The app is not as fully-featured as its counterparts on Android or iOS but it’s slowly getting better with each update.
